alex28ParticipantHello,
This is my first post here. I see the staff is very active and I would like to thank them for that. Good support is hard to find, these days.
Anyway,
Why can’t variable products be linked?
Other modules are doing it (for example: https://iconicwp.com/products/woocommerce-linked-variations/ ) and I just don’t understand the limitation WoodMart imposes.I have 2 variable products, with Size as variation and would like to link them by Color.
It would be nice if Linked Variations would support variable products in the future.
Keep up the good work!

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
First of all, I suggest you read our documentation on how to use our Linked Variation functionality and then if you have any questions, I’d be happy to answer them.

alex28ParticipantHello,
I have read the documentation before posting. My question still stands.
I already have variable products ( https://woocommerce.com/document/variable-product/ ) created and I would like to link them by an attribute. My variable products are using a “Size” attribute, used for variations. They also have an attribute Color.
I would like to be able to link the variable products by “Color”.As per your documentation, the feature only supports Simple Products.
My question is why, and is there a plan to allow variable products too?The module mentioned above supports linking both variable and simple products, so I don`t understand why WoodMart doesn’t allow linking variable products together, too.
Thanks.

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
In general, with variable products it should work, for instance, I have created bundles via Dashboard -> Products -> Linked variations: https://take.ms/Rn1vT
Then define that attribute for both products: https://take.ms/POKj5 , https://take.ms/AZtf7
So as a result, with variable products it works well, here is a video: https://take.ms/Byef4
In the meantime, feel free to ask me any questions you may have.
Kind Regards

alex28ParticipantHey,
Thanks for the detailed info.
In this case, it seems the documentation is a bit confusing. I tried it again and it seems to work.In the docs, It’s written in bold “Note that for proper work of the Linked variation, the products should be as Simple products.“, but it seems to work fine (so far, will do further testing) with variable products too.
Is the documentation wrong or am I missing something?

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
Although it is compatible with variable products, we suggest using it with simple products for optimal performance. There may be instances where it does not function correctly with a variable product.
If you’d like to contact us, we are here for whatever questions you may have.
Kind Regards
