You can create a dev site, also called a Staging platform where you can test issues, enable/disable features/plugins thus such changes will affect the main site. The below article will help you to create it:

I also highly recommend you to take a complete backup of your site before proceeding.

It should be the same, when you are going to import other demo, old content will be override so you need to make a backup first.

First of all, I’m really sorry have taken long time to reply you due to the weekend.

After created a devsite or make a backup, you can reset main production site by using Reset plugin, for e.g: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-reset/ and re-import new theme.

Then, on the devsite you can export products, posts to XML file and import again to main production site. You can read more here https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-export-a-wordpress-site/
