The change in the number of shop columns is not working.

I want to change the number of columns in my shop. However, when I change the number of columns through the Theme Settings -> Shop as described in the documentation, it remains the same. I have also searched the forum for a solution but unfortunately couldn’t find anything. I have only selected one shop page in the layouts. What is causing this issue and how can it be resolved?
