I have a problem.
I run my online shop in Austria and have a lot of laws that I have to comply with.
The biggest hurdles are taxes. I am not allowed to charge VAT on sales in Austria because I take advantage of the so-called small business regulation. But if a German customer buys something then I have to charge 19% VAT.
Even with the German market plugin I can’t implement what I need.
Now I have 2 options:
1. I run a website just for Germany. One just for Austria and one for the other EU countries. That means maintaining 3 websites and always doing everything 3 times. (money and work)
2. Can I set the shop so that a popup appears at the beginning where you enter your location and depending on what you enter, the website then shows the VAT and shipping settings accordingly.
If you e.g. When entering the website on Austria, no taxes should be charged and shipping should only be possible to Austrian addresses.
If I select Germany when entering the website, then 19% VAT should be charged and shipping is only possible to Germany.
I looked at the promo popup function in the theme settings. You can set a pop-up when you start the website. Can I create a country selection with appropriate settings using an HTML document?
Or do I have another option for a manual country selection in the theme settings?
