Brand Page Filters

I am in the process of customizing the brand page on my website and there is an issue with the filters.
The shop page widget area filters are not working with the brand properly. Product categories are not related to the brand, at all. If I select one category, all products will show up instead of the brand page. Every link in this widget area direct to the general page instead of filtering according to brand and category, for instance.
