I’m facing an issue with importing the Handmade demo layout.

Despite following all installation steps carefully and performing a complete site reset before importing, the imported demo does not match the expected Handmade layout. Here are the issues I’m encountering:

The menu structure does not match the Handmade demo layout.
The imported products have incorrect titles, images, and categories – they don’t match the demo sample.
The sidebar/filters in the shop page are not aligned with what’s shown in the Handmade demo.

I have already installed the theme from scratch using a clean WordPress setup (on Local).
Still, the result is mixed content and layout from other demos.

Can you please advise what could be going wrong?
Is there any known issue with demo import on Local development environment?

    Thanks in advance.

The issue is that I am using LocalWP, my site is running on my computer not on a public server, so I don’t know if you can access it remotely.

Can you confirm if demo import works properly in LocalWP? Or does it require a live server?

    Hello,

Yes, the demo import works with LocalWP, but you must ensure your local server meets the required PHP settings. You need to increase the PHP Max Input Vars parameter to 10000 or higher in your PHP configuration.

For more details follow this guide php configuration guide and set the required value and import the demo.

    Hello again,

I tried your suggestions and increased the PHP Max Input Vars as instructed on my local setup, but unfortunately the demo import still failed and the issue persisted.

I’ve now purchased hosting and domain to test it on a live server (Hostinger), but I’m still facing the same problem – menus are broken, missed up product images, and the import isn’t clean. (Not matching the preview demo .. Handmade)

At this point, I need your team to step in and fix it directly.

    Thanks,

    Hello again,

I saw your reply and the screenshot. Yes, the demo looks like it’s imported, but please understand the issue is not just importing the demo files. The import completes, but the website is broken:

    – Menus are wrong or missing.
    – Mixed images and products.
    – The structure/layout does not fully match the Handmade demo preview.
    – Theme settings and page designs are messed up.

Please don’t just check if the demo “appears” imported, review the site properly and compare it to the official Handmade demo on your website. (( https://woodmart.xtemos.com/handmade ))

If needed, please reinstall the demo content yourself, fix the broken parts, and make sure it looks 100% like the original template.

Let me know when it’s done. Thanks.

    Best regards,

    Hello,

I have checked your site and the demo is showing fine. However, installing demo content doesn’t create a site that is an identical copy of our demo site because it has a large number of pages and images that take too much time to complete.

Most images and pages you see on our site are not included in our theme package and will not be imported.

    Thanks for the update.

I understand that not everything from your live demo can be included in the import due to size or licensing limitations. That’s acceptable. However, this is not the real issue.

The issue is that the demo content that is imported is completely mismatched and inconsistent.

Please take a look at the screenshot attached:

    – A product titled “iPhone dock” shows a vase in the image
    – It’s listed under the “Toys” category
    – Other products show a similar mismatch between name, image, and category

This is clearly not a matter of missing images or a reduced demo, it’s a broken or corrupted import. If the demo content can’t even align basic info like product image, name, and category, that’s a serious issue.

Additionally, the products that appear are not from the Handmade demo – they are mixed with the default theme demo content. I chose the Handmade demo specifically.

    Please clarify:

    Is this expected behavior?

If not, how can I get a clean and correct version of the Handmade demo?

I’m not trying to nitpick missing images. I just want a functional and accurate starting point. Right now, this is not usable as a baseline for an actual store.

    Hello,

This behavior is expected and not related to any issue with the demo import. I have tested the same demo on our test site, and it functions in the same way.
