Problem with variation swatches display on the single product page.

Hello, I’m having a problem displaying variation swatches on my single product page. The variations don’t load as swatches — instead, full-size images are being displayed, both on the product itself and in the recommended products carousel below.
I’m attaching a screenshot that shows what’s happening. This issue occurs when the product is displayed for the first time, but if I refresh the page once, everything goes back to normal and the variations display correctly.
I have no idea where the problem might be or what could be causing it. I’d appreciate any help.
