Category Image Changes Not Retained After Switching WoodMart Pre-Built Websites

    Hello WoodMart Support Team,

    We are experiencing an issue with demo content and category image customizations.

    Issue Summary:

    When I import a WoodMart pre-built website and replace the category images with my own images, everything works fine—until I import a different pre-built website to explore it. After switching back to my previous demo, all custom category images are lost and replaced with the default images from the demo.

    Steps Taken:

    1) Imported “Marketplace 2”
    2) Replaced category images with custom images.
    3) Imported “Mega Electronics”
    4) Switched back to “Marketplace 2”
    5) All category images were reset to defaults.

    Expected Behavior:
    The custom category images should remain saved even after importing and exploring other demos.

    Actual Behavior:
    The custom category images are overwritten with the default demo images.

    Could you please advise if there is a way to preserve category customizations when switching between pre-built websites?

    Hello,

    This happens because when you import a new pre-built demo, it overwrites the existing demo settings, including category images. WoodMart demo imports are not incremental—they replace content and settings with the imported demo’s defaults.

    To avoid losing your category images, you should create your categories manually. Manually created categories and images will not be affected by demo imports.

    Thank you for the update.

    We tried creating custom categories, but the changes we made in the website with custom categories are restoring with default categories when we switch between the pre-built websites.

    Could you please advise if there is a way to preserve category customizations when switching between pre-built websites?

    Hello,

    This is normal because each demo import replaces its own configuration to match the demo design.

    There is no way to preserve category customizations when switching between demos,

    Choose one demo and import it only once.

    Then manually customize everything (categories, images, layout, pages, menus, etc.).

    Do not import another demo, because the new import will reset or overwrite your changes.

    But if you need any template from the prebuilt websites, you can import from the theme library or from WoodMart > Prebuilt Websites > Additional Pages: https://xtemos.com/docs-topic/templates-library/
