    Hello,

Website is completed. A lot of translation done via loco plugin. I need to add some custom codes to function.php and I want to use child theme because I don’t want those codes to wipe out when woodmart gets an update etc..

If I simply just install child theme and add my custom code to function.php of that child theme, will this break anything on loco translation side or create any confusion with any other plugin?

    Hi,

No, activating a WoodMart child theme and adding your custom code to its functions.php will not affect your Loco Translate translations or other plugins.

A few tips to keep everything safe:
    – Make sure your translations are saved in Loco’s System/Custom location so they are protected from updates: wp-content/languages/loco/
    – If any translation files are stored inside the parent theme folder, move them to the System/Custom location.
    – After future theme updates, you can open Loco Translate and click Sync for WoodMart, Woodmart Core, and WooCommerce if you notice any new or changed strings.

    Kind Regards

Great, one last question though. I’ve already made translation without child theme and they are saves within the directory you suggested anyway. From now on, with child theme is active, where should I make my loco changes for woodmart? Can I still do it on main theme or do I have to go to child theme inside the loco ?

You can keep translating under Loco Translate > Themes > WoodMart and continue saving in the System/Custom location (wp-content/languages/loco/). Activating the child theme does not require you to move or recreate those translations.
