Gutenberg Projects Block shows ‘No options’ for Portfolio Categories

    Hello WoodMart Support Team,

    I recently configured Portfolio / Project categories in WoodMart and the category archive pages are working correctly on the frontend.

    The taxonomy and post type appear to be:

    * Post type: portfolio
    * Taxonomy: project-cat

    Projects are correctly assigned to categories and the frontend filtering/navigation works perfectly.

    However, inside Gutenberg I have a problem with the WoodMart “Projects / Portfolio” block:

    When I insert the block and try to select categories, the category dropdown always says:

    “No options”

    So the categories definitely exist and work on the frontend, but they are not selectable inside the Gutenberg block settings.

    What I already checked:

    * Portfolio category slug configured in WoodMart Theme Settings
    * Permalinks re-saved
    * Categories exist and contain projects
    * Portfolio archive pages work correctly
    * Frontend filters work correctly
    * Cache cleared
    * Tested with existing categories already assigned to projects

    Additional technical information:

    In the frontend HTML source and admin URLs I can see:

    * taxonomy = project-cat
    * post type = portfolio

    The issue only affects the Gutenberg category selector inside the WoodMart Projects/Portfolio block.

    Could you please check:

    1. Why the Gutenberg Projects block cannot load project-cat taxonomy terms
    2. Whether this is a known issue
    3. If there is a required Gutenberg compatibility setting
    4. Whether this could be related to AJAX or REST API loading inside the block

    Hello,

    Please deactivate all the 3rd party plugins and activate only theme-required plugins on the site and then check the issue. I am sure your issue will be solved. Then, activate the 3rd party plugins one by one and check which plugin is creating the issue for you.

    Otherwise, if the issue still exists, then keep the 3rd party plugins deactivated and share the WP admin login details of your site so I can check and give you a possible solution.

    thank you for your reply.

    I tested this on my staging site now.

    All third-party plugins are deactivated. Only the WoodMart Core plugin is active.

    Unfortunately, the issue still exists.

    The Portfolio / Projects categories work correctly on the frontend and the category archive pages are generated correctly. The projects are assigned to the categories.

    However, inside the Gutenberg Projects block, the category selector still shows:

    “No options”

    So this does not seem to be caused by a third-party plugin.

    Could you please investigate this further?

    I can provide temporary WP admin access to the staging site if needed.

    I have tested the issue with all third-party plugins disabled. Only the WoodMart Core plugin is active and the issue still exists.

    I have provided temporary administrator access and detailed reproduction steps in the Private Content field.

    Hello,

    To select portfolio categories in the block:

    1. Edit the page in Gutenberg.
    2. Click the Portfolio block to open its settings.
    3. In the Categories section, click the dropdown and type the category name

    Thank you, that solved the issue. I was expecting a standard dropdown and did not realize that the field requires typing the category name first.
