kharlamov.manParticipantHello,
We are using WoodMart 8.6.4. When product photos open in the PhotoSwipe popup, they appear less sharp than the same JPEG opened directly in Google Chrome. The difference is particularly noticeable in fine knitted textures.
The image dimensions are **733 × 1100 px**. In Chrome DevTools, we found that PhotoSwipe sets the image element to **772 × 1159 px** and applies the following transformation to its parent,
.pswp__zoom-wrap:`css
transform: translate3d(636px, 74px, 0px) scale(0.949094);
`The resulting displayed dimensions are approximately **732.7 × 1100 px**. We suspect that this additional scaling causes the image to look softer.
We have checked the following:
– The popup loads the original JPEG, rather than a resized thumbnail.
– WoodMart Images Optimizer is inactive.
– Increasing the main image width setting to 1000 px did not resolve the issue.
– The same file looks sharper when opened directly in Chrome. We would like to keep PhotoSwipe’s click-to-open behavior and navigation between images.
Is this a known issue, and can it be resolved using the built-in settings? Is there a fix available for our WoodMart version? We would prefer a solution that does not require editing theme files, to maintain compatibility with future updates.
Thank you!

We checked the image attributes of the product you shared and confirmed that the original image dimensions are correctly reported as 733 × 1100 px. The PhotoSwipe popup displays the image at a smaller size, depending on the available viewport.
When an image is scaled down, fine details, such as knitted textures, can appear less sharp due to browser image resampling. However, we cannot confirm that this is the only cause of the difference you are experiencing.
PhotoSwipe supports zooming into images, although the exact zoom behavior depends on its version and configuration. Could you please check whether zooming into the image improves its sharpness?
WoodMart does not provide a built-in setting specifically for disabling the initial image scaling while retaining PhotoSwipe’s popup navigation.
Best Regards

kharlamov.manParticipantHello,
We tested the zoom behavior as you suggested and found the following:
In a smaller browser window, PhotoSwipe initially displays the image at approximately 664 × 997 px, and the zoom button is available. Clicking it displays the image at its original 733 × 1100 px, making the knitted texture visibly sharper.
In a large desktop browser window in Chrome and Safari, the zoom button is not shown, but the image still appears softer than the same JPEG opened directly in the browser.
During an earlier Chrome inspection, the image element had dimensions of 772 × 1159 px, while its
.pswp__zoom-wrapparent used:css
transform: translate3d(636px, 74px, 0px) scale(0.949094);This produces a displayed size of approximately **732.7 × 1100 px**, almost matching the original dimensions. We suspect the intermediate resizing and CSS scaling may contribute to the loss of sharpness, but have not confirmed this conclusively.
Could you please investigate why the image looks softer in the large-window PhotoSwipe view, despite being displayed at approximately its original size? Is there an update-safe solution that renders the image sharply at its native dimensions while preserving the popup, swipe navigation, and responsive fitting on smaller screens?
We would prefer a built-in setting or an official patch rather than editing theme files.
Thank you!

alexander.djundiParticipantWhen try to update: 731049 FIXED: Blurry product images in the PhotoSwipe lightbox on large screens. we get this error: Something went wrong during the installation of the patch. The patch could not be applied. Please try again later.
Two other patches 731041, 730727 is ok, just this one make troubles on all sites…
