As soon as you upload a new demo all the content will remain the same, at the same time all the Theme settings, view would change.

In any case, make a full backup of your site.

I would recommend doing these ways:

Take a clear new WordPress installation, install the theme, and upload the demo, configure the site, import your content, and then, when everything is ready, move the site to the live domain.
