Theme update can’t change footer configuration and it is probably caused because you have switched themes in Appearance -> Themes. Now, you just need to go to Appearance -> Widgets and back all your widgets to right places.

As we stated, it doesn’t depend on the theme version. All you need to do is to add all widgets to correct places in Appearance -> Widgets. There is no any issues from our side.
