I can guide you about the header.php file. But I’m not sure that your chat functionality will work or not. Which plugin are you using for the messenger chat functionality? You need to ask your plugin author.

For using the header file in your child theme you have to activate the child theme first. You do not need to download the child theme from somewhere. Because we already made it for you (you will found in theme package downloaded from themeforest). Once you activate the child theme. Then simply copy/paste the header.php from parent to child theme main directory and use your code.

If you want a chat, find a plugin which would be integrated correctly.

Directly adding some code in header file or some other file might corrupt your file. So just find a plugin to add this functionality.
