Main product image not sharp

Hello,
I see this has been a problem for a few users. but I cannot find a solution. Maybe you can help.
My product images on the shop are not sharp, but they are sharp when I hover over them.
My uploaded product images size is 800x600px… the product image container is 576x455px approx. So automatically the image is reduced in size to fit in the container. But it is this reduced image size which is not sharp, and it is rather annoying.
In Appearance > Customise > WooCommerce > Product Images I have set the product main image size width to 800px (to match my uploaded image size).
So there must be a reason why my images are unsharp when you do not hover over them. Is there any way I can get them sharp? Uploading a larger image file does not work – I tried that.

I just checked the size of the product viewer (single product page), and it is 577×432.75px. So my 800×600 image appears at 577×432.75px, before you hover and see the zoomed (original) version.
Knowing this, can you assist me with how to improve the sharpness of the non-zommed image?

OK I see that the issue is browser related. The images are blurry in Chrome, but sharp in FireFox. So obviously this is how the browser is dealing with downscaling.
Im not sure if there is a fix…

Try the image of width: 800px; height: 1200px; We use these in demo and they work well in all browsers.
