    We have a situation whereby the page is still loading and until it full loads you can add a product to a basket without choosing a variant – it seems the validation loads last

    Hello,

    If you check the issue on the Storefront theme, you will see the same: this is the way Woocommerce works.

    If you created a variation based on two attributes it is important to choose both.
