Product grid images not appearing on Chrome for Mac

    Hi there,

    I’m having a problem with images appearing blank on the shop page. The problem is only occurring on the desktop Chrome browser on Mac (everything works fine on Safari and Firefox). I do not have a PC or Android phone to test Chrome for Windows or mobile. I have tested my site with all plugins deactivated (except for Woodmart Core, Elementor and WooCommerce) and it does not fix the issue. I have provided a link to my site’s staging environment with only those three plugins activated.

    Here are some more details about the issue:

    The problem is “responsive”: Individual product images will reappear when I resize the window to cross one of the responsive thresholds (i.e., changing the width of the window to force a transition from desktop to tablet will make some images reappear and different ones disappear).

    Images affected are predictable: The problem affects images in the same location on the shop page for different categories. The blank product images affect all products on the fourth row of a product grid that is 3 columns wide (desktop width), and the 7th row of product grids that are 2 columns wide (tablet and mobile width).

    Shop page and product grids affected: The problem occurs on shop/category pages as described above as well as product grid widgets on other pages. My main page has a 4 column x 2 row grid and both images in the first column are blank. The product images in the grid widgets flicker in and out randomly when I resize the window. This doesn’t happen on the shop page.

    We have tested your shop page bug don’t see any problems there. Could you please record a video demonstrating the way to reproduce the issue?

    I don’t have an easy way to record my screen. I’ve attached a screenshot of the product grid on my main page (the images do not appear in the first column), the 4th row of my shop page with a 3 column grid, and my shop page in tablet width (not sure why, but this time, there were no product pictures at all).

    These screenshots were all taken by visiting the staging environment link in Chrome for Mac. The behaviour is the same on my live website. I didn’t have to do anything to trigger the problems. The pictures just aren’t showing up when I use Chrome.

    Also, the problem is more erratic than I thought. I didn’t realize that the tablet width shop page could load with no product images at all. The problem seems to be getting worse.

    Please advise.

    Try to disable “Lazy loading for images” option in Theme Settings -> Performance -> Lazy loading.

    Hi Artem,

    Thanks – that fixed the immediate problem. However, now I’m curious how to enable lazy loading in a way that works for all browsers. My site has a lot of images and I really need that feature to work.

    Based on this fix, it seems like there is a problem with the implementation of lazy loading in the new version of the Woodmart theme. I have had lazy loading enabled for a long time and I never had this problem before I updated.

    That said, I really appreciate all of the performance improvements that you made in the new version – it’s actually a lot better overall, but I’d like to get lazy loading back. In short, how long will it take to fis this issue in the theme?

    Actually… I’m also having the same problem with the featured image not appearing anywhere blog posts are on the site. I have turned lazy loading off as you suggested to make the product images work.

    Is there a different setting to turn off lazy loading on featured images for blog posts?

    We have tested it again with Chrome on Mac and it seems to work correctly for us https://gyazo.com/1004f2e7c908d218e25a76a971ad53ca
    Note that you have to scroll the page for lazy loading to load the images.

    This option works globally but you can create a preset for single blog posts and disable it there https://xtemos.com/docs/woodmart/theme-settings-presets/

    Hi there,

    I think you misunderstood the problem. Product photos are working correctly (although I’m not happy that I can’t use lazy loading).

    The problem now is that *blog post* featured images are not appearing on Chrome for Mac. Please see the two attached screenshots of the Blog page (with no photos) and the blog widget on my home page that shows recent blog posts (also with no photos).

    And the lazy loading is still enabled and works well in Chrome on Mac.
