    Hello,

    There is a bug between your theme and WPML on the chrome browser, which is causing serious problems for us. As it is I believe only Chrome related (firefox and safari seem OK), the majority of all customers using android mobiles are affected. I havespoken with WPML and they say it is a theme issue.

    When you try and click the WPML language switcher it reloads the page (which it should not do). On desktop this is not such a big issue as the language dropdown still is activated (where you can select individual langauge pages to load), but on mobile devices (using chrome) it is a disaster. Everytime you try and change the language by clicking the language selector the page is reloaded, rather than showing you the language dropdown. So it is impossible to change the page language.

    Please try going to the chrome browser and seeing for yourself. Better checking on a mobile device so you understand. Try and change the language and you will see it is impossible to do so.

    I have left our website address in the private content as want to keep it out of public domain.

    Thank you

    Hello,

    Please please, provide your site admin access to the private area.

    Please confirm the permit for us to deactivate the plugins not related to the theme and switch to the parent theme for the while of checking what may take up to 15 minutes. Please make the full backup of your site.

    Best Regards

    Hello,

    It is not to do with other plugins. I can see the same problem on your own site. This is a theme issue.

    Go to your own demo site in Google Chrome: https://woodmart.xtemos.com/. Click on the small arrow beside the language selector and you will see it reloads the page (but it does not do this in Safari or Firefox). Of course I cannot test your theme on mobile as the top bar does not show up on mobile devices.

    So I ask you to add the WPML language selector to the header on your test environment, and view it in google Chrome on mobile. You will see the same issue.

    Thank you

    Hello,

    We use a menu just to show that there is the option to insert a language switcher. Most likely you have configured the language switcher not correctly, please refer to WPML documentation: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-switcher-options/

    Hello Elise,

    No the language switcher is setup correctly. It has functionned very well without problems until you made some theme updates.

    Clicking on the language selector should not reload the page. You should only be able to activate the dropdown when you click on the language selector (which then enables you to select a different language).

    Please check yourself on a mobile device on Chrome with the website details below (a test website). Try changing the language via the language switcher at the top of the page. You will see the issue.

    You will need to use the credentials in the private area to login.

    Hello Elise,

    We tested again and sometimes the dropdown will appear, but only very quickly and then disappears, making it impossible to click on the languages.

    So kindly please check the website link I sent you from an android phone.

    Hello,

    I am checking your site: https://gyazo.com/b7c4a1d8537a7549964e2ead3422b5a1 This is the way WPML language switcher works. You can check on any default theme and you will see the same.

    Our theme does not influence that.

    If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.

    Hi Elise,

    But you are not checking on mobile. You cannot see the problem unless you check from an android mobile device. On desktop the dropdown automatically comes down, but on mobile it can only come down if you click it, which is where the problem is.

    Hello Elise,

    The login details I sent you is just to get past the password protected directory. I checked those settings and they work 100%.

    Do you also need to login to the admin section of the website?

    Hello,

    The credentials provided earlier do not work: https://gyazo.com/f0743e952b5ac97ad891dac8acc64cc8

    Hello Elise,

    Yes those credentials were just to get you past the password protected directory as I explained, and I can see you managed that. They were not admin access for the backend, which I asked if you needed.

    I have added credentials in the private area to give you access to the backend. Thanks again.

    I think maybe you are on the wrong site URL, because I have tested again these credentials and they work. Please look in private content below where you will find our staging site URL and all credentials which have just been tested.

    Thank you

    Hello Elise,

    Further to the previous ticket, here is what teh WPML supporters say (it is a theme issue):

    Hello,

    Yes, indeed I can confirm the issue. The issue is that the element is designed like that inside the theme, or better say, the theme is overwriting the default behavior of our language switcher.

    This should get reported to the theme support. Please feel free to provide them the test-site as reference and point out that this issue does not occur when switching to a different theme.

    One option is to move the language switcher inside the Hamburger Menu which I think would sort the issue. The problem is when customers come to the site they cannot easily find the language switcher at first glace if it is hidden in the Hamburger Menu.

    Thank you

    Hello,

    Please add this code to the Theme Settings > Custom CSS > Global:

    .whb-top-bar .wd-nav-secondary>li>a {
    	pointer-events:none;
    }

    Best Regards

    Thank you Elise!

    WPML said this language switcher should be inside the Hamburger Menu for it to function better (for mobile users on Android). So we also moved it to the Hamburger Menu and there it works 100% without problems.

    Again thank you for your support.
