Please restore the site from the backup. If you do not have the backup, contact your host support perhaps they make automatic backups.
The recent version of the Basel theme works perfectly with the recent WordPress version and it does not influence the site broking.
As soon as you restore your site, deactivate all the plugins, update the WordPress, then activate the plugins one by one checking the issue, finally enable the child theme if you use it.
