How to update from 3.5 to lastest

Hi:

I have problem to update to last Woodmart template version.

1th attempt: I just add licencse in theme settings and update.
This solution show me the message:
Failed update: The package could not be unzipped. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10): Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

2th attempt: I uploaded theme in a new folder “woodmart6”
When I tried active this “new theme woodmart” the site goes “white”. Don’t show nothing in front end. I guess there is some issue with data stored in database.

I don’t figure out which another way to update theme.

What procedure should I perform to update from 3.5 to 6.x theme version?

Hello,

I would recommend you to arrange a staging site and install a new WordPress installation.

Install the theme and upload the demo (if you want demo) then, recreate the header in the Header builder: https://xtemos.com/docs/woodmart/header-builder/ you can try export-import header from your live site to the testing: https://xtemos.com/docs/woodmart/header-builder/how-to-exportimport-headers/

Then recreate or migrate the footer and all the widgets area. As soon as you finish the site configuration, delete all the demo, and import-export the content from you live site.

Finally, you can add the other plugins from the live site one by one checking the site. Then as soon as the site is ready you can move it to the live site.

Updating the theme in the live site would crash part of the site and you will have to recreate some parts of the site in any case.

Hi Elise,

Sorry for the delay in continuing with this issue. I was dealing with other tasks before this theme update.

I noted staging site is different to building a test site. I was using the docker alternative to test, but I checked this staging alternative and I think it is a better option.

1. About this staging site “consume” one license?

Respect, the alert in the attached image:

2. Do you have an alternative way to update using an unzipped file? Could I add an unzipped file in some folder to avoid this error? Should I consider some system requirements before updating the site?

Hi,

It’s like update is not properly downloaded.

It happend same with Revolution Slider and WPBakery plugins.

Hi Elise,

It’s solved in staging with following steps:

1. Activate the default WordPress theme.
2. Remove Woodmart Theme.
3. Upload the new version Woodmart theme by FTP.

Plugins updated with zip Files.
