staffcreatorParticipantBye!
Doing site speed checks.. we noticed that usually a page weighs about 8 MB… can’t you do anything to lighten the pages?
For example this page weighs about 8 MB without any image.. See the attached link..
https://www.uppynet.com/shop-search/
We are running these tests on the site https://tools.pingdom.com/ — Site known to measure site performance.
inserting the above link shows you how much the page weighs.. in particular I noticed that it indicates 6.9 MB of Images, but in reality there are no images apart from the logo which weighs 34 Kb…
If instead you do the test on the Home of the site we go up to 17 MB…
Isn’t it possible to improve the performance in terms of heaviness?

Artem TemosKeymasterHello,
Yes, as we can see, this page consists mostly of the images https://gyazo.com/cac42a2590458ef3b2d6f89fd14c8296
It has a lot of images in the categories dropdown in the header. Try to temporarily remove this element from your header and see how it works.Kind Regards

staffcreatorParticipantYes you are right,
But the problem always remains .. because the images do not weigh more than a few Kb .. let’s talk about 35 Kb 110 Kb which added together will make 1 MB …There is something that significantly increases the image memory .. but if I show you an image created with photoshop which is one of those in the drop-down menu it does not weigh more than a few Kb …
So why does the monitoring system even say there are 6.3MB of images?
Can anything be done?
Because honestly even if I lower the quality of the original image it can weigh less but not by much and it doesn’t change much..
So is there some process or something that makes the images themselves Heavy..
Can you help me figure out how to fix it? I’m sure I’m doing something wrong…
Thanks friend!

Artem TemosKeymasterBut your images are much larger than a few KBs. Some of them are 1MB+ according to the network tab. Here is a screenshot https://gyazo.com/8e796c0a849717c3ed97aa14366caba6

Artem TemosKeymasterYou can either optimize and reduce the number of images or try to use AJAX dropdowns if the problems come from your menu only. It will load content only when you move your mouse over the menu.

staffcreatorParticipantOptimal! Thanks for your help..
The home page actually weighed 17 Mb About now, activating what you advised me, it starts to weigh 9.9 MB, actually a good result but we still need to improve the performance..
In fact, I noticed that on the Home page there are images that load them without the cache, they are those referring to carousels..
Do you have any recommendations for this?

Artem TemosKeymasterHello,
You need to open the Network tab in Google chrome, and check all the large images https://gyazo.com/b012d8e5ab58b8ae107a406a978d8797
You may need to resize and optimize them to reduce the page weight.Kind Regards

staffcreatorParticipantHi Artem!
Thanks for your help..I did as you told me.. but it doesn’t give me the size of the file.. it just tells me that it’s an image in the Cache.. and so I assume it’s optimized directly from the cache.. right? (see attached image)

Artem TemosKeymasterYou need to disable cache while checking this to see the real size https://gyazo.com/a650388f63fcde5abf035e320086fd50
