How do I make all my images to automaticaly fill out into a 1:1 square so my product list does not look funny like attached

Please follow the article below for help. In general, the issue is in your images themselves, so the easiest way to solve it is to upload images with equal sizes.

is there a way to have all photos fit into a square without having to edit the size of each photo?

i selected thumbnail croping to 1:1 but its not filling out its just cropping off the top

I suggest you regenerate your images through the “Regenerate Thumbnails” plugin for cropping that (more detail in the below article).
