Justify Blog gallery on the home page

Hi. I’ve added a set of three blog posts in “meta-on-image” format to my home page.

1. I’d like all meta to show except the author name. I’ve added the following css code and nothing happens:
.blog .wd-meta-author {
display: none !important;
}

2. I’d like the boxes that contain the blog posts to be the same height, despite different lengths of title etc. I believe this is called “justified.” Do I understand that term correctly?
