greg-9795Participanton our site, we have different landing pages for each industry we sell to.
For example the page for hotels. On this, we have a popular product category listed for people to click onto. This opens the shop page with a filter applied. For example wallpaper or mattresses.
When you click on this it opens the shop page with wallpapers showing. However, you cannot then browse other products. You cannot delete this applied filter.
Normally you can select the cross that appears at the area circled in green. However, for some reason, this is not the case with these pages. Then when you press the home next to the catagorie, it takes you back to the main homepage.
How can we change this? We want people to go to home, select hotel, select wallpaper and end up on the shopping page with that filter applied. Then once they have looked at wallpapers they should be able to remain on the shopping page and browse all other product types that we have available.
Many thanks

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
You’re currently using product categories for navigation, which is why users are unable to remove the filter once they land on the shop page. To achieve the desired behavior, I recommend using custom filters instead of category navigation.
Please check this manual:

greg-9795ParticipantHello, thanks. We have tried that and I cannot get it to work. Aside from that it seems like we would need to add another filter bar on the shop page, which we do not want to do.
How else can we link to the shop page with filters applied? I don’t know what to do. As you can see we used a template and simply the product category links. It is disappointing this doesn’t work when it was provided built this way.
Do you have any other ideas that you think could work? Thanks.

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
You can add the filters from Appearance > Widgets > Add the filters in the shop page widget area or you can display the filters in the shop filters area.
Follow this guide.

greg-9795ParticipantHey,
Our filters are made and displayed via widgets.
So I do not understand what you are asking me to change?
For the buttons, I applied filters in the shop page and copied the link once the product type filter was selected.
I used this link as the destination for the button. Now when you click the button it opens the shop page with the filter applied as desired. However you cannot then remove this filter or browse for other products
How do I rectify this?

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
These are product categories pages. The “Clear Filters” option doesn’t appear because product category pages are treated as separate WooCommerce pages.

greg-9795ParticipantHow can I format this differently? If I create a grid with a regular button, linked to the shop page with a filter applied, will this rectify the issue?

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
Can you please share some screenshots or examples of what you actually want, so I will check and give you a possible solution?

greg-9795ParticipantHi! sure see attatched photo.
Basically, we have three landing pages for different sectors: hotels, care homes, and restaurants.
On these, we have a top categories banner as shown in the photo. This opens a shop page with the chosen category shown. We used the template catagorie banner which is opening the shop page with non removable filters applied.
If I created my own banner with buttons (the yellow marks) linking to the shop page with filters applied would this work?
We want people to click on a category and browse, but then be able to remove that filter and shop for other items too.

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
Yes, creating your own banner with buttons that link directly to the shop page with pre-applied filters should work. You can set each button to link to the specific category filter URL. This way, users can start browsing within that category but on the categories pages the “Clear Filters” option doesn’t appear because product category pages are treated as separate WooCommerce pages.
Additionally, you can enable breadcrumbs on your category pages. This will allow users to easily navigate back to the main shop page by clicking on the shop link in the breadcrumb trail.
Navigate to Settings > Permalinks > Choose Product Permalink “Shop base”.

greg-9795ParticipantAmazing! The permalink worked and is a simple, smooth solution! Looks good and works well! Thanks so much!
Thanks for reading the issue and getting that idea! Just what I wanted!
