    Hello,

While trying to set up my delivery rules, I noticed one “flaw” in the mechanics and one possible bug.

    The flaw

As of now, there is no way to overlap estimated delivery dates. Basically, if a product falls over 2 categories, you cannot choose which rule takes over. Unlike Discount Rules (you can choose to make a rule overlap another and force this one to apply). The only way to possibly achieve this is by excluding the certain products or subcategories and creating another rule where this subcategory has a different ED. Or so I thought.

Example: My product falls under a category called “Cars”, inside certain products are on a subcategory from A to Z. I want to set ED to all my categories except Y and Z (coz I need a special ED for the Y and Z). So as of now, the only way is either :

    1) rule that includes each sub categories manually (A, B, C, D….) taking ages
    2) rule that include category “Cars”, exclude subcategory Y and Z, create another ED with subcategory Y and Z

    My tests

The second option, which is the fasted, does not work. Excluding categories does not actualy work.

As of now, I have :

    • Category “Cars”
    • Subcategory “Electric cars”

    I tried :

    1) a rule having 15 to 20 days delivery for category “Cars”
    2) a rule saying 3 to 5 days delivery for subcategory “Electric Cars”
Result: ALL have 15 to 20 days delivery showing up.
Opinion : Category rules go over subcategories rules ?

    The bug :

    1) a rule having 15 to 20 days delivery for category “Cars” while excluding subcategory “electric cars”
    2) a rule saying 3 to 5 days delivery for subcategory “Electric Cars”
Result: ALL have 15 to 20 days delivery showing up.
Opinion : Seems like the exclusions do not apply.

    Another possible bug :

I am pretty sure this has to do with caching (you have the option to force it in the settings). but if i change a date, it actually does not apply. I have to manually deactivate and reactivate the rule for it to apply. Not dramatic but good to know.

    Kind regards.

Also, just realised, we can set ATTRIBUTES as conditions. Does that mean that the ED will update if certain attributes are selected? Overruling the general rule ?

Rule priorities are determined automatically. A newer rule takes precedence, meaning a rule published later can override an earlier one. For example, if you create a rule for the parent category *Cars* and then create another rule specifically for the subcategory *Cars -> Electric cars*, the second rule will apply to products in the *Electric cars* category, while other subcategories under *Cars* will follow the initial rule.

For all subcategories of *Cars*: (https://monosnap.com/file/hX25Gsf3fShL1ODZZq1dsQP2d3XExa).
This rule has higher priority because it was created later and applies only to the subcategory *Cars -> Electric cars*: (https://monosnap.com/file/U1REPNU7gy5WHQA6JafyxxNDidZr5w).

When creating rules as you described, it’s important to understand how condition priorities are determined. The first condition that evaluates as true will immediately mark the rule as applicable for that product. For example, if a rule has these conditions: (https://monosnap.com/file/hU1FlhKNKQuYCdxkvjQ1VG2sGA0Avr), it will be considered applicable if the product belongs to the *Cars* category, ignoring all other conditions.

To prevent this, you need to define exclusion conditions first: (https://monosnap.com/file/giEvKBqJw0fvUKPt1YMBzbITYgXc2j). Here, if the product belongs to the *Electric cars* category, the condition will evaluate as false, and the rule will not apply.

For all subcategories of *Cars*: (https://monosnap.com/file/8VHxZFfC3a5Lz81ArfHBDWn4kWDYb5).
This rule has higher priority because it was created later and applies only to the subcategory *Cars -> Electric cars*: (https://monosnap.com/file/n0ubx3o08Jyej68slaW2uBqKA43Pcx).

    Hello,

Thanks for the explanation. It does make more sens. Obviously, not the best way to approach the conditions but I guess I can manage.

Would be awesome to give priority numbers to rules and not use the time it was published.

    You can close the topic.

    Kind regards.
