    Hello there,

    Good day to you.
we face an issue that after set product attribute Brand as Archive, and setup a Layout for that Brand attribute, it still gives 404 error.

    Test product page:
    https://new.climapro.com/product/cassette-type-split-air-conditioners/
Tried clear cache and on new broswer, it still not work through. Maybe some special settings need to do that? Can you help to have a look? Thank you.

    kind regards,
    Luie

    Hello,

It is a conflict with the new WooCommerce brand taxonomy.

To fix this, You need to change core brands permalinks from “brands” to something like “core-brands” in Settings > Permalinks.

But if you want to use a new core brand instead of the theme’s custom attribute, need to deselect the custom attribute in Theme Settings > Shop > Brands

    Hello Aizaz,

Thanks for the quick response and updated info on brands module in woocommerce.
Based on the info, I made following adjustments:
    1. In permalinks setting, keep “brands” (ending with s) as base.
    2. In product attributes, use Brand (brand with NO “s”).

with current layout setting, now the 404 error is gone. Thank you for your professional support.
But it comes with a small issue: woocommerce query function is not working in this Layout. It still shows all prodocut categories. (it should show product categories relating to the clicked Brand only)

    Test page: https://new.climapro.com/brand/philips/
and Layout setting is as enclosed.

Can you pls help to have a look on the query function when using Brand ?

    Kind regards,
    Luie

    Hello,

Sound’s Good!! That first part of your issue is resolved.

Now the next part, You have created the Custom Layout “Product Archive Layout Philips Brand ” which you applied to the brand “Philips” using condition.

Then you used the “Product Categories” element and choosed the data source as “woocommerce query”

The issue is it shows some extra sub categories on that page which it should not show there.

So I checked it on my test site and it works perfectly fine for me on my test, it means the issue is on your site only.

Then I thoroughly checked the structure of your sub-categories and found that one product is assigned to a category and then that category is also assigned to another category and that is the reason it shows multiple sub-categories there on that page.

    Like:

If you check this product: “Air Series Wall Mounted Splits” (Brand, Philips) and (Category: Wall-Mounted Split)
Now (Category: Wall-Mounted Split) is the sub-category of (Residential Air Conditioner)
And when I edited the (Category: Residential Air Conditioner) it was the subcategory of (Home Comfort) category.

So that is the reason of the multiple subcategories showing on that page.

    Hope this is clear now.

    Hello,

I have tried again and checked all the possible options, but still does not work on your site only.
I can see that you are using some third party plugins (including the CDN) as well, so I suggest you to please flush all sorts of server cache including the CDN and disable for a while till you are in the development process, and check back again.

Alternatively, If you want to show the only home comfort category in the brand “PHILIPS”, Edit the Philips brand layout with elementor and choose the data source “Custom Query”. In this case, the only home comfort category will be displayed on the brand page.

    Hi Aizaz,

Thanks again for your assistance on this case.
But since it is still warm in memory, I just hope can solve it together. the Custom Query Proposal will not work perfectly as if Click on home comfort category in the current situation, the Non-Philips items will still show up.
The current site is not CDN, I think maybe the current brand attribute Philips is not actually registered as an Archive in woocommerce database. this is an assumption if you like I am providing the accessible link of the current database in private message. Hope we can find out the reason from other angle and fix it.

    Kind regards,
    Luie

    Good day Aizaz,

Really appreciate your dedication in the matter, now when click Brand (set as archive), the product category (woocommerce query) displays correctly. must be my mistake made somewhere that caused this…
    Can close this issue now.
Thanks once again and may your patience and diligence bring good luck to you in 2025!

    kind regards,
    Luie
