    i know that there is a setting inside woocommerce that allow reviews and ratings but it seems like it does not seem to work any assistance would be appreciated

    Hello,

    If you have activated the rating in WooCommerce settings, stars would appear as soon as a product gets a review.

    where can a person review a product?

    As soon as you activate reviews, you will see the Reviews Tab on the product page. Enter it, leave a review and you will see stars on the product.

    Make sure you have enabled the option, check WooCommerce > Settings > Product tab > http://prntscr.com/k98gw4
