Turn off attribute swatch but keep image in color variation in product page

Hi,

I want to turn of product color attribute swatch from my shop and other product grid views. I can turn off it from theme settings -> shop -> attribute swatch. But when i turn that off from there. The images in the product page also vanishes.

Also, I have another issue that. When i visit a product page if I try to add to cart it gives a validation to select product variant. That works fine but from mobile view it seems the validation is not working. So, one can visit to product page and straight away can add to cart. By default the first variant seems to be added. How to fix that.
