When you variable product has both color and size, you need to choose both to add this variation to the cart. I have tested the product you provided, it is added to the cart correctly and I see it in the cart. Cart is not empty, you can see the screen https://prnt.sc/tk52i8

This is the way a variable product is added. Our theme does not influence this Wooocmmerce functionality.
