Adding to Custom CSS or Changing Theme Settings Resets Saved Changes

I’m attempting to work with the woodmart theme but each time I try to add to the custom css or change a particular theme setting it reverts all my progress back to the initial default theme settings/design. Not sure what the issue is, I tried disabling ‘mod_security’ as was suggested in a similar post which had no effect, clear all cache and disabled all but my essential plugins and am still having the same issue. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Please, provide your site admin access (insert the site credentials into the Private content block under the message area) and confirm the permission for plugins deactivation, switching to the parent or default theme. This testing may take up to 15 minutes. You would better make the full backup of your site.
