lost.hinataParticipantHello,
I hope you’re doing well. I’m experiencing some issues with the product search engine on my site. While it works very efficiently and I’m pleased with its performance, there are a few adjustments I need to make, which my visitors have pointed out:
When a visitor searches for “table,” a suggestion for “table” appears. However, the first results shown are professional stainless steel tables. Ideally, I’d like my furniture tables to be displayed first. Can this be adjusted with your tools, or would it require implementing a piece of custom code to handle this (without slowing down the site)?
When I click on “see more results,” I notice that some products unrelated to “table” also appear. I would like the search results to only display products that have the word “table” in their name, and not those where “table” is merely mentioned in the product description.
After performing a search for “table” and staying on the results page, if I click back into the search bar, the word “table” remains in the search field, but no product suggestions appear. This can be confusing for the user. Is there a way to automatically clear the search term and return the default placeholder text, like “Search for products”?
In the extra section, I’ve provided admin access to the cloned version of the site for your reference.
Thank you for your support, and I look forward to your assistance in resolving these issues.
Best regards,

lost.hinataParticipantAdditionally, is it possible to display the list of categories where the products containing the word “table” are classified during the search? It would be more user-friendly for visitors to see, for instance, that there are tables in both the “kitchen” and “furniture” categories. This would enhance the browsing experience and make it easier for users to navigate the site.
Is it possible to adjust the search engine so that it only focuses on product names?

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
In general, our search functionality comes from WordPress itself, so we cannot customize it via the custom code.
You can add the “Popular requests” to the search in Theme Settings -> General -> Search: https://take.ms/AA4Wh so when you search other words, the “Tables” will be available in the appropriate requests bar.
Kind Regards

lost.hinataParticipantHello Luke,
Thank you. Could you do it on my cloned site? I tried adding the word “table,” but nothing happens on the front end. I don’t understand what it’s supposed to do.
Otherwise, the product search module is indeed too limited compared to my catalog. I will need the features I mentioned earlier. Do you have any efficient modules to recommend that are compatible with Woodmart?

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
Looks like the temporary access is expired: https://take.ms/bgdT2
Make sure that you have enabled an appropriate option in the settings of the Search element – https://take.ms/mOtq6q
You can increase the search functionality e.g. for searching products by comments, tags, categories, and custom fields by using the Relevanssi plugin. https://monosnap.com/file/vQuNjGWn10n4wZydXllqVz7V4dKYSb

lost.hinataParticipantThank you, I opted for a search engine solution that I implemented on the live site to replace the WooCommerce one, which was very poor and ultimately driving customers away.
