Sorry this is not strictly ‘woodmart’ but I am wondering if it is a setting within woodmart or a woodmart feature??

On my WP site, all you have to do is add your email and you are a member!? I have just deleted 200+ accounts, because there is no proper regestration process. My google reCaptcha does not even work… I thought you had to add name and email and then go to email and click link – as well as this why is my Google ‘not a robot’ captcha not working??
I am getting emails – 50 a day of “new users” who are all bot spam…
How do I set it up so only customers can register, and if they want to register they have to pass a captcha and clcik link in their email.. I thought this was common practice to become a user… not just add your email and you are a user!?
    So confused?!

    Hello,

This is not controlled by WoodMart. By default, WordPress allows anyone to register if that option is enabled. To fix this:

    1. Restrict registration to WooCommerce checkout only (WooCommerce > Settings > Accounts & Privacy).
    2. Use a plugin for email verification: https://woocommerce.com/document/customer-email-verification/ ,
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/emails-verification-for-woocommerce/
    3. Enable Google reCAPTCHA on registration forms using a plugin.
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/advanced-google-recaptcha/

This will block bots and allow only genuine customer registrations.

Hi in woocom payments ‘accounts / privacy’ the setting “Send password setup link (recommended) ” is checked… is this what you mean?

This bit below does not make sense??? It is currently ticked…
    “”””Account creation
Allow customers to create an account
    During checkout
Customers can create an account before placing their order.
    Account creation
    On “My account”””””

I just got back and there are now 5 new pages of bot acconts?!

    Hello,

That option only controls how passwords are sent — it doesn’t stop registrations. Your issue happens because of registration, so bots can sign up freely.

    Please do this:

    • Navigate to WooCommerce > Settings > Accounts & Privacy and allow account creation only during checkout, not on My Account.
    • Add a reCAPTCHA plugin to login/registration forms and Optionally enable email verification.

After this, bots will no longer be able to create accounts.

    Best Regards,
