Attribute swatches not responding

I am having trouble with attribute swatches on my products…
For information, I disabled all third party plugins and updated the theme.

I want to use images of product variations for the swatches, so I enabled the option in the shop settings of the theme.

When I click on a swatch, the product is not selected and the main image does not change according to the variation. I am not sure but I think the issue is related to the last theme update.

Also is it normal that when hovering on a product in a grid, the swatches do not appear ? (On the image the first variation appears as an icon and not as text, but because I set the image to the attribute itself)

Thank you, this resolved the problem of clicking on variation swatches.

However, the issue with the grid not displaying the variations in icons (they are written in letters) is still there.

Ok so I was afraid I had to add variation images both in attributes and in the product variations and that is the thing to do.
