    Hello WoodMart support team,

This is urgent – it is a live shop.

Our server memory has always been limited to 256M and never caused any problems until today. After updating the plugin/theme versions today, we first got a critical error. We fixed that, but now the whole site layout is broken and shifted.

On top of that, the Elementor editor only manages to open small/simple pages – on larger pages it fails (hits the 256M memory limit).

    Setup:
    – WoodMart 8.5.7 + child theme
    – Elementor 4.2.3 / Elementor Pro 4.2.3
    – WooCommerce, WordPress 7.1, PHP 8.2
    – Host Europe (shared), memory_limit fixed at 256M, cannot be raised on our side

Could you please log in with the admin access in the private field and fix the layout, and advise how to keep the site/editor working within the 256M limit? Since this is a live shop, a fast response would be highly appreciated.
Or is there any other problem with the site/layout?
I also found this article, which explains the first error pretty good: https://xtemos.com/forums/topic/critical-error-in-frontend-when-updating-woodmart-core/

    Thank you very much!

    Best regards,
    Philipp

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the detailed report.

Please provide FTP access via the forum’s Private Content field. Also, please confirm whether it is acceptable to temporarily deactivate third-party plugins during the troubleshooting process.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for confirming.

The issue is caused by insufficient available memory when third-party plugins are active. During testing, Elementor works when Wordfence is disabled. It also works when all other third-party plugins are disabled while Wordfence remains active.

There is no theme-side fix required in this case. Please deactivate third-party plugins one by one and test Elementor after each change to identify the plugin or combination of plugins causing the excessive memory usage.

    Kind regards,
    XTemos Studio

    Hi,

Thanks, but I think the memory limit is not the actual cause of the broken layout – let me clarify the timeline:

The site worked perfectly fine before – WITH Wordfence active and with the same 256M memory limit. Nothing was wrong.

The layout only broke AFTER I ran updates yesterday: Elementor, the WoodMart theme, and WoodMart Core were all updated. Immediately after that the site first threw a critical error (which I fixed – it was an old orphaned functions.php from a previous theme), and since then the whole layout is shifted/broken.

About the memory: our host (Host Europe) caps PHP memory at 256M and it cannot be raised on our plan. But here is the key point: the front-end pages actually load UNDER the limit (Query Monitor shows peak usage around 227MB / 88% of 256MB, status 200) – so the pages do load, they just render with a broken/shifted layout. This tells me the broken layout is NOT caused by running out of memory, but by something the updates changed (WoodMart Core / theme / Elementor compatibility).

So my question: since the layout broke specifically after the WoodMart Core / theme / Elementor updates, and pages load under the memory limit, could you please check what in the update broke the layout and how to fix it? Or does the usage need to be further under de 256mb mark?

    Best regards,
    Philipp

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the clarification.

Could you please check whether it is possible to restore a backup from before the updates were installed? Alternatively, please let us know the exact WoodMart theme, WoodMart Core, Elementor, and Elementor Pro versions that were active before the update.

    Kind regards,

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately restoring a backup from before the updates is not possible – I am not the one hosting the website, so I don’t have access to an older backup. And I don’t know the exact previous version numbers either, but it was simply one version before the latest for each (theme, core, Elementor, Elementor Pro).

But here is the most important point: to rule out the memory limit as the cause, I copied the entire website to another web server with a 512MB PHP memory limit – and the exact same layout error still occurs there. So this is definitely NOT a memory issue. It is something the updates changed.

I have put the login credentials for the test copy (on the 512MB server) in the private section.

    Thank you very much!

    Best regards,
    Philipp

    Hi,

Good news – I got it fixed, so no further support is needed. Thank you!

For your reference: the cause was the WP-Optimize plugin. Once I addressed that, the layout was back to normal.

You can close the ticket. Thanks again for your help!

    Best regards,
    Philipp

    Hi there,

Thanks for the update. We are glad to hear that the issue has been resolved and that WP-Optimize was causing the layout problem.

We will close this topic now.

    Kind regards,
