Change default text in search bar search field

We would like to change the default text in the search bar. We want to change it from “Search for Posts” to just “Search”.

Could you please provide instructions on how we can make this change?

We do not want to translate the language.

We only want to change the placeholder text to just say “search”

You can rewrite the word with the plugin it is easy and safe. If you change in files the changes will be lost with the nearest update and you will have to do it again and again.
