Change text in Search Bar

HI – I want to change ‘Search for products’ in the search bar please. I don;t need it translating – I just want it to read ‘Enter product code’ instead. How do I do that please? i have seen other posts where you mention Loco Translate but this is not to translate just to change wording. I would also not like to download another plugin – could this be done in functions.php of child theme?

It is not possible to do in functions.php of the child theme, you can just change it in an appropriate file, however, each time after theme update you will have to change it again and again as after update the change would be reset.
