Hello, could you clarify some aspects on the subject Child theme?

    1. Is it true that having the child theme activated can slow down the page?

    2. When an update comes out, what is it that gets updated, the parent or child theme?

    3. to translate with WPML do I have to do something special? or do I do it the same way as with any parent theme?

    4. What happens if I have custom CSS code in the child theme and then activate the parent theme?

    Thanks a lot.

    Hello,

    1) No, using the child theme could not make the page or website slow.

    2) When an update comes the parent theme is updated.

    3) You don’t need to translate the child theme again if you translated the parent theme. You need to translate only the parent theme.

    4) Only the code customizations you made will not work that you made to the child theme when you activate the parent theme, not the CSS you added.

You can read the following article for further help:

    Best Regards.

    1) Ok.

    2) Ok.

    3) So to do string translations I must have the main theme activated and not the secondary one?

I do not plan to make code customizations, only CSS adjustments, what theme should I have active then?

    4) OK

    Hello,

You can have the Child theme activated but have to translate the parent theme.

And we always suggest to use the child theme as you cannot lose any of your customizations with the theme update and it depends on you whether you want to use the child theme or not.

    Regards.
