child theme or regular theme

Hi,
So i added some custom css in wp bakery css customizer. Will that be deleted if the theme updates?
Also Do you recommend to use child theme if we wanna add custom functionality or css?

The customizations you made to the parent theme will be lost when you update the theme.

So we always recommend you to use the child theme then your customizations will never be lost after the theme update.
