We recently updated a site from BAsel 4.0.1 to 5.2.0. During the upgrade we noticed that the compare feature wasn’t working and in the course of our investigation, I see that the YITH Compare plugin is no longer required as Basel now has it’s own Compare feature starting at 4.5.5.

In any event. We created a compare page with the [basel_compare] shortcode and the compare is working, however it really isn’t a great user experience. Is there any way to bring back the old behavior of opening the Compare in a modal?

The old YITH plugin would instantly open the compare in an modal on the screen when the customer clicked the compare icon. Now when the customer clicks the icon it does it’s dance and then the label changes to “Compare Products” which the customer has to click on again, to be taken to the Compare Page. This results in the user leaving the current page. Maybe the old behavior of opening the compare in a modal could be brought back and made an option in the theme as I feel that it was a way better experience for customers.

    Hello,

Yes, there are a lot of considerable changes between these versions. Please read and follow the suggestions provided here: https://xtemos.com/docs/basel/faq-guides-2/4-x-5-0-migration-guide/

We have replaced the Compare and Wishlist plugins with the integrated functionality. You can use either our theme feature or use the plugin (deactivate our theme Wishlist and Compare in this case) Please find more information here: https://xtemos.com/docs/basel/faq-guides-2/4-x-5-0-migration-guide/ and here: https://xtemos.com/docs/basel/basel-wishlist/

    Best Regards
