We use a plugin that adds brands and over the years have tweaked it to add more custom needs for us. I currently have brands disabled via the theme but the “Brands” menu item is still present. How can we completely disable brands feature that the theme adds?

    Hello,

Please navigate to Theme Settings > Shop > Brands and remove the brand attribute from drop-down.

I do not have an attribute selected as a brand: https://snipboard.io/RQ9PSf.jpg

But “Brand” still shows up under the “Products” section for Woocommerce.

    Hello,

The “Brand” functionality you are seeing does not come from the theme. In Woodmart, brands are created in the form of attributes. It is possible that this is coming from a plugin you have installed.

If you have any questions feel free to contact us.

You are correct. Sorry, I only noticed the “Brands” menu item after the theme update. It appears Woocommerce is now natively supporting “Brands” as a taxonomy. On our staging site I swapped themes and disabled all plugins outside of Woocommerce and the “Brands” menu item was still there.

Woocommerce 9.6 adds “Brands” to Woocommerce natively now. Looks like they integrated their own “Brands” plugin into Woocommerce: https://developer.woocommerce.com/2025/01/17/enabling-brands-update-for-woocommerce-9-6/

I’m adding the link in case others run into the same thing I did. This can be marked as resolved.
