Crop images, Search function

Hi

I need a bit of help to crop my images and with my search function in my header.

Image crop:
My images in my category pages are a square… But id like to make them retangular. How do i do this? I have tried in the theme -> customization. Is there better plugins than Woocommerce?

Search function:
Right now i have chosen the form option in the header which works just right. But i want to combine the form design with the full screen search opportunity. Is this possible?
