cross sells items not correct

Hi there.
Unfortunately the cross sell function is not working correctly.
when being logged in, it only shows the referenced item for displaying on a layout. when not logged in, it shows a different product, not the one, that was linked as cross sell item in the product.

Please check how it works with the default wordpress theme just to check whether the issue is with our theme or not.
