css sprites for category icons

hi i would like to use sprites for the “browse categories” dropdown lie this :

how can i change to set these sprite icons in the categories for my sub menu “browse category”?
instead of : Icon to display in the main menu (or any other menu through the site) now a png file. to the code above.

It is not possible to apply sprites. You can upload PNG or SVG icon in the Dashboard > Products > Categories

but i have 12 product categories and also always at least 5 subcategories on the category pages.

that would save a ton of requests and would speed up the page.
for my body repeating content i have already set everything, but i have no access to change the src-slug for these pictures to have the sprite reference within. how could we find a solution here?

Hello,

Unfortunately, sprites are not supported. You can upload the sprite to media library and create the CSS on your own.
