Default product shorting is not working

The products on the “dresses”, “New Arrivals” menus are sorted by the latest but they are not showing the latest products on order.
but when we change the option in the drop-down it works correctly

I have checked that issue on the default WooCommerce Storefront theme and there is the same issue:

So this is something related to WooCommerce itself as the same happens on the default theme.
