Disable Sidebar

Hello,
I must disable the Product Categories sidebar
I followed this help page https://xtemos.com/forums/topic/how-to-turn-off-product-categories-left-side-bar/
but this does not work on my instance – despite the setting being ‘Disabled’ the sidebar remains visible.
