I want to display the sub categories of a specific parent post category in a sidebar – could you please advise how to do this?

I would like to provide guidance on incorporating the categories widget into the main widget area for your blog. If your intention is to exclusively display subcategories in the sidebar, I recommend creating a menu and adding the subcategories as menu items. Subsequently, utilize the navigation menu widget in the main widget area and select the desired menu.

I don’t want to use a menu I need it to be dynamic filters so that the user can click between sub categories with the content of the page changing as required whilst remaining on the page

Sorry but there is no option in Theme Settings available for that.
It requires customizations and this is beyond our limitations and support policy.
