Navigate to Appearance > Menu > Choose the main menu;
Open Element menu item and find the option to change the image http://prntscr.com/iztgw5

Following, as I have the same question.
I did as described, but the picture is covering the entire menu.
Do I have to export the picture in a specific size / px for it to fit? And if so – what should the size of the pic be, for it to fit perfectly as the screenshot from web_fer.

As we can see, you have some extra plugin installed that overrides our theme’s custom fields for the mega menu. Try to deactivate it first and then manage our mega menu fields. Later, you will be able to enable the plugin again and the data will not be lost.

You should create an image with the real size, e.g, this image have to 285x420px.
