Enabling “WoodMart MCP” automatically enables “MCP Adapter”

I installed on my website the 2 plugins below, which are official from WordPress :

– https://fr.wordpress.org/plugins/ai/
– https://fr.wordpress.org/plugins/ai-provider-for-openai/

However, when I install WoodMart MCP, it automatically installs another plugin official from WordPress :
– https://fr.wordpress.org/plugins/mcp-adapter/

Yet, a notification then appears by WordPress that there are duplicate adapters. Which is then true.
But you are forcing the usage of this MCP Adapter. What if we use the other adapter from WordPress too?

Thank you for the detailed report.

This is expected. When you click Enable MCP plugins on the WoodMart → Tools → MCP page, WoodMart installs and activates the companion plugins that the MCP connection needs. The official MCP Adapter plugin from WordPress.org is one of them. The adapter is what lets AI agents (Claude, Codex, Cursor, etc.) connect to your site and use the WoodMart MCP tools. Please don’t remove or deactivate the MCP Adapter plugin for now. Without it, the WoodMart MCP connection may stop working.

Ok but I keep seeing an ERROR on my backend admin that there may be duplicate MCP plugin adapter and that it can cause conflict.

Another version of MCP Adapter is already loaded and may cause conflicts. This is usually because an outdated extension includes its own copy of MCP Adapter as a dependency. Update that extension to the latest version to ensure compatibility.

We tried to reproduce this on our test setup with the AI and AI Provider for OpenAI plugins, WoodMart MCP, and the MCP Adapter installed together, but we didn’t get the “Another version of MCP Adapter is already loaded” notice.

To find out what is loading the second copy of MCP Adapter on your site, we need to check it directly. Please share your WordPress admin access in the Private Content field, and we’ll look into it.
