cristian-1741ParticipantHello!
We’ve been experiencing numerous issues with our website for several weeks now. I’m not sure whether all these different problems stem from a single root cause or if they’re unrelated, but they’ve all started appearing during this period. In March, we made several changes — including edits to the functions.php file — to fix some “minor” issues that turned out to be more complex than expected. We did a lot of testing (also with your support), and I’m concerned that all this manipulation might have triggered some deeper issues.
The main problems we’re facing are:
– the website is extremely slow,
– we’re getting frequent 400 and 502 errors,
– sometimes the site crashes with an “Internal Server Error.”
As a result, it’s often impossible to work on the site or even browse it properly.
From SiteGround, we noticed an unusually high number of unique visits — normally we get around 400–500, but yesterday, for example, it spiked to 4,000. Clearly, this isn’t normal traffic and doesn’t seem to be from real users.
The “Really Simple Security” plugin reported: “We have detected suspicious bots causing a large number of 404 errors on your site,” but I don’t know how to properly address this issue.
I tried implementing some of the speed optimization suggestions from SiteGround (Speed Optimizer, CDN, UltrafastPHP), but things seem to be getting worse.
I also tested a staging environment with a different theme, and so far, I haven’t encountered any 400/502 errors or slowness there. I’m not sure if the theme is the main cause, but I suspect it could be playing a role. I’d really appreciate if you have any experience with these kinds of problems and could help us out.
Thank you very much!
best,-

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
After checking your website, we do not currently see any of the issues you listed.
The error you showed in the screenshot is related to the WooCommerce plugin and should already be resolved:https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/57760
As for the “Internal Server Error”, 400, and 502 errors, we recommend that you contact your server’s technical support so they can provide more detailed information (possibly some logs) about why the server returned such a response.
Kind regards

cristian-1741ParticipantHi Luke,
thank you very much for your reply.
You didn’t notice any issues because they only come up occasionally, usually while we’re working on the site. I can’t really say why — sometimes they happen simply while editing products…
So, you haven’t received other support requests for similar issues?
Also, regarding the slowness — could it not be related to the theme? Because in my staging area (where I tested a different theme), I haven’t encountered any of these problems…Thaks,

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
1. I didn’t receive such requests. As I mentioned above, this is related to the WooCommerce – https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/57760
2. Could you please ask your hosting provider to provide the error logs that are related to 400-502 errors?
Kind Regards
