alifhossain5577ParticipantIssue: Facebook Messenger Link Loads Site, Then Shows Gray Overlay
Description:<br>
I’m using the WoodMart theme on my site.<br><br>When someone clicks on the site link from Facebook Messenger, the following happens:
- The site loads correctly inside Facebook’s in-app browser
- After scrolling a few sections down, a gray overlay appears
- Overlay has buttons: Go back and Continue to website
- Clicking either button does nothing; user gets stuck
This doesn’t happen when the site is opened in normal browsers like Chrome or Safari. It only happens inside Facebook/Messenger.
What I’ve Tried:
- Used the Facebook Sharing Debugger – OG tags are fine
- Tried different devices and Facebook accounts
- Could you suggest what script or theme behavior might be triggering this?
- How can I prevent this gray screen from interrupting user access?
Thanks in advance!

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
Could you please check how it works with some default WordPress themes like WooCommerce Storefront to understand is it our theme issue or not?
Kind Regards

alifhossain5577ParticipantHi Luke,
Thanks again for your earlier response. I’ve continued investigating and wanted to share some important findings that may help narrow this down.
Issue Summary
When opening https://unfoldbd.com via a shared link in Facebook Messenger on Android, the page initially loads, but after scrolling for a few seconds, a gray overlay appears with:
- “Go back”
- “Continue to website”
The problem is:
- Neither button works, and users are stuck on the overlay.
- And most of the time I get this grey area.
- The only workaround is to open the site in Chrome.
Works Fine On
- Chrome on Android
- Safari (iOS)
- Messenger on iOS
Not Working On
- Messenger WebView on Android
Tested Another Site:
https://skincareshop.com.bd (also built with WoodMart) — does not show the problem.
- unfoldbd.com — has issue
- skincareshop.com.bd — no issue
Request
Can you please check if WoodMart has a scroll-triggered overlay or cookie logic that’s incompatible with Android WebView?
Any help is appreciated.
Best,<br>Alif Hossain

Luke NielsenKeymasterWe do not have such logic. Did you check how it works on the default Storefront theme?
I await your response.
Kind Regards
